Tartu Toomkirik

6. juunil 2025 toimub Dzejas pusnaktsi Eesti-debüüt — Tartu toomkiriku varemete eripärases õhustikus leiab aset erakordne sündmus «Luulekesköö kirikus». Sellega jõuab ainulaadne Läti luule- ja muusikaüritus esmakordselt kodumaalt laiema publikuni.

Õhtu käigus astuvad üles kaheksa eesti luuletajat (Sveta Grigorjeva, Sanna Kartau, Elo Valner, e. g. s., Susanna Mett, Carolina Pihelgas, ja Joonas Veelmaa), keda saadab läti Fenomenaalne DJ duo PIHTIMUS (Krista Kaufmane ja Gerda Roze Medne). Oodata võib luule ja gooti-mõjulise muusika — new wave, post-punk, electronica — sulandumist kiriku kummituslike varemete taustal.

On June 6, 2025, the event series Dzejas pusnakts visited outside Latvia’s borders for the very first time. The event Luulekesköö kirikus took place in Tartu, Estonia, in the Tartu Cathedral ruins. Still in daylight, the LIVE RADIO host Amanda Kaufmane opened the event, inviting everyone to leave one of their sins on a long, white paper carpet using a black marker, and to wash away worries and unpleasantness with a holy drink. After this half-hour-long ritual, the night of vampires, ghosts, yokai, and other creatures was officially opened. During this night, anger, pain, fear, sins, and everything else that could be swept into the whirl of dance were cried out and danced through. Poets wrote about these very sins and sorrows, shame, prejudice, and the darkness that not everyone dares to speak about – but which most certainly must be spoken of, so the mind may become lighter. And in order for the soul to be colored in light, all that has accumulated must be danced out.

This sinful night’s catharsis was brought forth by DJ duo PIHTIMUS (Krista Kaufmane and Gerda Roze Medne), delivering a DJ set born from the depths of the soul, with a focus on gothic music. As raindrops fell into the eyes, each attendee danced and liberated their heart from all that was oppressive. Seven wonderful and creative minds performed poetry and live acts at the event – HIIR SIBLIMAS ÜLE ALTARI (e.g.s.), KRANTS (Sanna Kartau), COMEMOS SOMBRA (Carolina Pihelgas), MIMMU (Sveta Grigorjeva), TOHUWABOHU (Susanna Mett), ALASKA (Jonas Veelmaa), KÕRISÕLM (Elo Valner) who have most certainly sinned – and will sin again – but who skillfully weave these experiences into enchanting poetry.

The event was organized thanks to the Estonian Endowment Fund and with the help of the literary magazine Värske Rõhk.
